If the polygons are similar, this means that the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal. This ratio is what we commonly refer to as the scale factor. The ratio of the area of similar polygons is equal to the SQUARE of SCALE FACTOR. For this item since the scale factor is 2, the ratio of the areas is equal to 4.
